Hi, My wife's DV2535ea has the nVidia G8400M problem and I'll soon be pursuing the recommendations with HP. However my daughter has a DV5-1020EA FM593EA with the nVidia GeForce 9200M GS chip. No problems with this as yet (GPU seems to peak at about 73C but can anyone advise whether this GPU is also likely to be faulty as she's off to Uni and I don't want her to have problems then.
Many thanks.

Hello Doc and welcome to our forum.

Good luck with the DV2535ea, if you run into a brick wall with HP then please let me know and I will advise further.

With regard to the DV5 laptop that your daughter has, whilst some customers have reported problems with laptops incorporating the 9200 GPU, there is no evidence at this stage that the DV5-1020EA is affected.

73c as a peak temperature is not too bad though you should impress upon your daughter to try an always use the laptop on a hard surface. You should also inform her that she should not put the laptop on a carpet/sofa/bed when switched on as that will increase the temperature of the laptop and could lead to problems.

At the moment though you have nothing to worry about so fingers crossed for you. :x

I hope the above helps.

Any questions please let me know.

Best wishes
