:! I have in my possession this morning a cheque from Ebuyer for £146.89

I was pretty impressed with how straightforward the whole process was.

After initial contact by enote they were quick to pass me on to Hayley Andrew who aranged for the laptop to be picked up.
There was a little delay as I had to copy files etc off and format the hard drive.
I made sure that the returned laptop had a note taped to the screen detailing the inherent fault, symptoms and the fact that Ebuyer were fully aware of it - I wasn't going to risk the engineers report telling me the laptop failed due to crumbs from a packet of cheesy wotsits I munched in June 2011 under the keys!

The laptop was with them for about 5 days and then I contacted them by enote to see what was happening and they replied to say a cheque had been raised for £146.89 ( I paid £409.99 May 2009).
I had already told Hayley Andrew that a refund to the original card was not acceptable as I have not had that card since 2010 and last time they refunded for the 2008 lapop it was a pain, so she had already promised any refund would be by cheque.

I have to say that Ebuyer were great both times at the partial refunds of the laptops, it was only the software issue on the first laptop that caused me problems.

Once again Paul, thanks very much for this forum and your advice, that's 2 laptops and Office software, total £347.76, that you have helped me get back from Ebuyer.

Now to find a new laptop - are the chip issues definitely a thing of the past?

Hello Denise,

Well done on your success. :! :! :! :!

I am really pleased that you have managed to reach another positive resolution. Praise the Lord that you found my forum and that I was able to help you. :D

You should not have a problem with a new laptop and the Nvidia chip defect is a thing of the past and is not present in current models.

There is however a problem with the solder used to bond the GPU's to the mainboard, though you would have to be very unlucky to purchase yet another defective laptop so you should be okay.

Well done again Denise and all the very best for the future.

Best wishes
