Hi Paul

Apologies I haven't posted sooner about finally resolving my Section 75 claim with MBNA. It was quite a long winded affair but its sorted now

Once I had gone through the detail with the Ombudsman (with the help of several posts on the forum), they were in agreement with my calculations & once they contacted MBNA with their findings, as if by magic, my account was credited with £360.72 ( inc engineer report cost & postage to return it to them ) :! :! :!

I did have to send the laptop to them (I did remove the hard drive) which I'm not sure if I should have, but it did mention that as part of the Ombudsmans ruling so I didn't think I really had a lot of choice. I was happy just to sort it all out!

In the end, it only cost MBNA about an additional £70 from their original offer & I'd imagine the time & effort they would have to have put in with the Ombudsman would have been a lot more than that. I could see why they might make a first low offer but once they realised I knew my facts & was threatening to involve the Ombudsman, I'm surprised they wouldn't budge.

Once again, many thanks for all your help & good luck for the future

Hello Matt,

Well done on your success. :! :! :! :!

I think that the Financial Ombudsman do a brilliant job and they have intervened on a number of occasions and have always come up trumps so well done to them also. :! :! :! :!

I am really pleased that you found my forum and that I was able to help you reach this positive resolution.

Well done again and all the very best for the future.

Best wishes
