Hello again ;-)

laptop purchased-05/04/2008-£899.99
date failed: May 2010

took it for a repair- 20.07.2010 (to the local service store http://www.halskitech.co.uk/), paid £120 and failed again after a month.
After that I could not be bothered and left it, as I thought nothing could be done in my situation. At that time I was not aware of any kind of resolution until I found out about your forum.
Letter sent to PC World (first reported) in November 2011.

Thank you!!!!

Alicia

Hello Alicia,

Based on the information you have provided I have calculated that the minimum refund that you should have received would be £362.

This is based on a purchase date of 5/4/2008 and he date that you reported the fault in November 2011.

Whilst you paid for a repair in 2010 as you did not report the fault until 2011 then PC World cannot generally take this as a date of failure as you did not report this to them.

Of course, this was not your fault as you were not to know that the cause of failure was due to an inherent defect.

If PC World were to take this into account and were to still use the dates as a method of calculating your refund then it would calculate as follows:-

Pro-rated refund = £362
Repair refund = £120
Total refund = £482

Therefore their offer of £464 is pretty close to this amount and I would therefore advise that you accept it.

At the end of the day you would only receive an extra £18 if you were to pursue this and it really is not worth your time and effort for such a low amount.

Their offer is pretty good and I doubt very much that you would get much more than this by pursing any further.

What do you think?

Best wishes

Paul
