Hello Max,

There is no way to be able to prove the date that the laptop failed by examining the GPU, only that the laptop has failed.

There is a way to show when the laptop was last used and that is to examine the Event Log. This will show dates that the laptop was switched on and off and what programs were run etc.

From this one could determine when the laptop was last used, though this would not really change matters as it is quite standard to use the date the fault is reported as being the failure date.

You could always argue the point though.

I hope the above helps.

Any questions please let me know.

Best wishes

Paul

Hi Paul,

Received a refund from John Lewis today. Many thanks for your help on the forum and for the engineer's report.
John Lewis have been good throughout. I dealt with their tech support guys via email throughout ([email protected]) and they didn't quibble once they received the report.

thanks again

Hello Max,

Well done on your success. :! :! :! :!

It is a breath of fresh air when retailers deal with claims like this. It is much better than the way certain other retailers are handling matters.

That was a speedy resolution though, I only looked at your laptop late last week so well done again to John Lewis. :! :! :!

I am glad that you found us and that I was able to help you.

Good luck and all the best for the future.

Best wishes

Paul
