I have experienced the same problem with my machine - HP tx2050ea with a GeForce Go 6150. I spoke to Staples head office and they were very helpful and acknowledged that they are fully aware of this problem. They now require the engineer's report to be completed and then we can go from there.

Hello Dan and welcome to our forum.

Sorry to hear of the problems you are experiencing with your laptop.

Staples have been very good in dealing with this matter. In fact, they have been one of the better of the high street retails when it comes to being fair with their customers.

We can help you with the engineers report.

Hello Rara and welcome to our forum.

The HP TX range of laptops are, in my opinion, doomed.

I have worked on so many of these units and cannot believe the rate at which they are failing. I really think that the TX2??? and TX1??? range should be recalled as they are proving to be a real headache.

I have emailed you details regarding collection of your laptop.

If you have any questions or need any advice then please let me know.

Best wishes

Paul

i have had a call from staples and they are offering me £500 discount off a new purchase of a laptop. Am i entitled to a full refund or is this the best offer i will get?

I paid £630 for it.

Hello Rara82,

Well a discount is pretty worthless as in implies that you will have to spend money in order to use it.

Staples may not have the laptop you want so what good is the £500 then?

I would ask for this to be refunded in cash to give you the opportunity to shop around.

Their offer is very fair and in line with what you would expect to receive if you went to court and were to be awarded a refund based on usage.

You couldn't expect to get 100% of your money back as that would be unfair, so i would accept their offer of £500 but stipulate that you require the refund in cash.

You are nearly there now.

Good luck and best wishes

Hello Rara82.

Well done on your success :! :! :! :!

Don't you just love Staples! They certainly show the rest of the retailers up to be the absolute shambles that they are.

I have always said that the way Staples has been handling this situation is second to none.

Maybe Comet and DSG Retail et al should send their customer dis-service staff to Staples for a little staff training. Maybe then we will see an improvement in these companies.

Well done again and best wishes for the future.
