Hello everyone

I have a dv9574ea purchased direct from HP (HP store) in Sep. 2007. It failed in Feb 2009.

Luckily, I found this site and wrote to HP (recorded del.). No reply. I obtained a report from Paul which confirmed the nvidia problem in my laptop.
Another recorded letter to HP with Paul's report and 7 day warning. That is now up and guess what? No reply.

I will now have to go down the small claims route and have just found out that because I live in Scotland, I can't use the online moneyclaim online service.
It seems I will have to raise a summons from my local Sheriff Court.

I will let you know how I get on.

Hello October1,

Shameful behaviour by HP.

I bet if you wanted to spend some money with them they would be all over you like flies round jam.

Is it no wonder that in an ongoing Class Action against HP they were accused of:-

.....engaging in unfair, unlawful and fraudulent business practices.

That, in my opinion, pretty much sums them up.

Good luck with your small claims action against them. You will probably hear from their Solicitor in the first instance telling you that they intend to defend the action.

You will then probably receive another with an offer.

I can't say definitely, because they could suddenly change their tactics, but up to now this is what they have done.

If you need any help or advice then please ask.

Best wishes

Paul

Success!!

Received a cheque for £964.10 from Shoosmiths, HP's solicitor. This represents a full refund plus the cost of Paul's report.
They have missed out the court fees but I am chasing that up!

I followed Paul's advice with the initial letters etc. and heard nothing from HP until the summons went in.
Even then it was a letter from Shoosmiths asking for a serial no. and case reference!!

HP made no response at all to the Court and the return and hearing dates came and went. I was awarded the case
by default.

Many, many thanks to Paul and other forum members. The whole process can take a while and can seem daunting at times.
To anyone else with the defect, keep going and you will succeed!!

Best wishes to all.

Nick

Congratulations Nick :! :! :!

It just goes to show how hopeless some of these companies are if they can't even be bothered to turn up at court :o

Hello Nick,

Well done on your success :! :! :! :!

I think inept is too kind a word to describe HP, but it is the only one I can think of at the moment so it will have to do :@

Shoosmiths must be raking it in from HP as we are only hearing of the stories from members of this forum.

Well done again Nick, glad we could have helped you reach this positive resolution.

Good luck and best wishes for the future.
