Hi Paul, I have some good news! Comet decided to offer me a free replacement to the sum of what i originally paid. It suited me pretty fine seeing as i'd only go and spend any money i may have won by taking them to court on a new machine anyway. I went and chose one from a store the other day, i chose one that was the exact price of my original otherwise i would have to have put any difference on a gift card.

In an ideal world i suppose i wouldn't have got a new one from comet, but i must say through out the whole thing they seemed to handle it pretty well, maybe i'm just lucky? Or maybe they now know they'd lose money taking people to court? And are better off fighting HP for a payout of their own?

Either way it was settled pretty quickly and saved me a LOT of money, and seeing as how i needed a laptop for my studies i'm grateful i didn't have to go to court which could have taken months!

I would just like to thank you for all the help advice you and your site have given me, without it i probably would have had to just accept the injustice of it all haha!
