Hello Mostak,

Well, the letter gives them seven business days to respond and the letter does say that time is of the essence so technically their time is up. You can be generous and give them until the end of the week but I think that you will find that they will not have responded in that time.

Maybe it is time to move onto the next step.

What do you think?

Best wishes

Paul

Well, if you sent the letter via recorded delivery then you will be able to track it online to ensure that they did receive it.

If they have received it then it will probably be in the huge pile of others they must be receiving.

In my experience they could take another couple of weeks to respond and even then it will probably not be a favourable response.

I suggest that you now move on to the next stage, which is obtaining an engineers report.

If you follow my advice in the step by step guide then you will reach a positive resolution. That is available here:- post13.html#p13

If you have any questions then please let me know.

Good luck and best wishes

hi paul,

i have afew more questions if you dont mind.

when i send the laptop to u, should i send it in its original box for saftey as it still has all its packaging inside.

When i send the lap top to u, and you find that the laptop in not inherently defective, will i have to pay the full £65 or will you offer to fix it.

i still have had no reply from dixons and if i send the another letter with the report, what are the chanes they will promt in getting back to me as they still have responded.

I hope you dont mind me asking these question as i would like some peace of mind as if i dont get any positive resoloution from this, then i will be further out of pocket and back to square 1.

Hello Mostak

Please find below answers to your questions.

Yes please that would be great and will protect the laptop during transit.

If your laptop is not inherently defective then I will quote you on the cost of repair. If you decide not to go ahead then all you would pay is £20 for the collect and return carriage and £20 for the inspection.

That is a difficult question to answer but I would say that they will respond pretty quickly once they get the final letter before action with your report. At least that is what they have done so far.

I don't mind at all, that is what I am here for. I appreciate that you want piece of mind and for that you should look at some of the success stories in this forum.

As long as your laptop is inherently defective then you should have no problems in reaching a positive resolution just like many others on this forum.

I hope I have fully answered your questions. If you have any further questions then please let me know.

Good luck and best wishes

There is no need to include the power supply when sending your laptop to us as I have plenty.

Well, if you have sent the retailer the initial letter before action and have waited the obligatory seven business days then yes, the report is indeed the next step.

For full instructions on how to obtain a report please take a look here:- need-an-independant-engineers-report-t62.html

If you have any questions or if you need any advice then please let me know.
