Hello to all,
this is my first post after registering. Well went to curry's this morning with laptop. Customer service said it will have to be repaired, which of course I said no. They then got the service depot whoever that may be on the phone. The technician agreed there was a fault and did not seem concerned that the laptop is 32 months old. I explained all about the nvidia fault which he obviously knew of, he then asked to speak to the customer service person who he had a private conversation with. The customer service person then said that someone would call me next week. That ended the first contact with curry's, which did not seem very helpful. Will post again if they ring next week.

Well, to be fair, they haven't continued to push the offer of a repair so I would guess that the next contact you will have will be an offer of a replacement laptop or a partial refund.

Whichever it is I hope it is a favourable response for you.

Looking forward to your update.

Good luck and best wishes

what a surprise I had today, after removing the battery from the compaq and then refitting the laptop has started working again. I have downloaded the GPU -Z 0.4.5 and run the test but could not get the stress test to work so downloaded another program:- video card stability test this shows the gpu at 100% and reaching tempreratures of 83c does this seem normal?

Hello Hamousger,

Well, 83C isn't too bad, I have seen much worse.

The problem is that as long as your laptop is working then it is impossible to check for the defect.

Your laptop needs to have failed in order for me to be able to test and then to be able to definitively state that your laptop is inherently defective.

I would run a DVD film on loop and see how much longer the laptop will last.

Any questions please let me know.

Best wishes

Paul
