Hello Carson and welcome to our forum.

Sorry to hear of the problems you are experiencing with your laptop.

You didn't provide me with your full model number of your laptop, only that it is a DV9500 so I did a quick check on the HP support website for the BIOS updates for your laptop.

For nearly every model of the DV9500 range there is a BIOS update, named F.51 The purpose of this update, according to the HP website is:-

Quote:
Updates the fan-control algorithm for the system to reduce the likelihood of future system issues.

This means that as early as 25th March 2008 HP were aware of the potential for the premature failure of your laptop - otherwise why release a BIOS update that switches the fans on 24/7?

So, if HP were aware of the overheating issue in your laptop why are they now not offering to resolve the situation?

I would contact HP again and point them to the direction of the BIOS update page for your laptop.

Tell them to click on the "Previous Versions" link and then click on the F.51 link.

You should then ask them if they still feel it is right to charge you for a repair.

Don't let them try and fob you off Carson, stand your ground and be persistent.

Tell them that you will sue them if you have to and that you will not rest until you have a positive resolution.

I would also take some legal advice in your country to see if there are any laws that may have been broken.

Give the above a go and see how you get on then pop back here and let me know and I will advise further.

If you have any questions then please let me know.

Good luck and best wishes

Paul
