Thanks Paul,
Thats very encouraging to hear. So that i can get the ball rolling can you confirm that your report will include the information required by Staples (see extract from Staples Email below ) and that the total cost will be £65-00 inc Vat.

Griffo
Staples email extract----(I recommend that you speak to a repairer and ask them for an independent assessment, once presented with this report, If the goods are considered to be un-repairable or not economically repairable, then we will take steps to have the machine replaced. This practice is approved by Consumer Direct which is a service from the Office of Fair Trading.

The report needs to have a full header showing the company name, telephone number and vat number, or must be traceable on companies house and available for us to contact with any queries. It also needs to display the make, model and serial number of the unit concerned.

There should be a full diagnostic - details on what is wrong. Why and how they have reached that conclusion and what recommendations they make. We need a clear distinction that they consider this to be an inherent fault or not and some evidence to support this. It is also important to note that we will need to see some form of proof of purchase, whether this is a receipt, card statement, bank statement or a rewards card statement.

Staples pride ourselves on our high levels of customer service and if an inherent fault was found we would of course, refund the costs incurred in obtaining the independent assessment. Most assessments will cost no more than £35.)-------

Our reports are very detailed and run to 4 A4 pages. Staples have received numerous reports from ourselves and have commended me on the "ful and detailed report" so you have absolutely nothing to worry about there.

The total cost will be £65, there is no VAT as I am not VAT registered.

The current threshold for registration is £70,000. As 99% of my business is labour only and as my turnover is below the registration amount then I have no need to register. This will change inn the future once the turnover reaches the required level.

I am also a sole trader so do not run a limited company. Staples cannot specify that they want a report from a limited company as the engineers report should be from a company of your choosing.

All that is required of a company that is providing engineers reports is that they run a laptop repair business and that they repair laptops on a day to day basis. I fully meet with this criteria and repair laptops for a number of independent high street computer stores.

Besides, Staples have already accepted my reports and fully endorse them as you will see from the following document:-

Image

Staples have accepted my reports time and time again and so we know for a fact that they do not have a problem with our company.

Finally, their statement about only refunding £35 is not quite true. Over and over again they have refunded the full £65 as this is a consequential loss.

I hope the above helps.

If you have any questions then please let me know.

Best wishes

Paul

Thats great Paul,
Do you need the machine to be free of passwords and do you need personal data etc to be deleted. I think I noticed that you are on holiday from 1st to 9th August .Is that correct? If so I will arrange to get this to you for a report on your return.
Thanks again and have a good holiday.
Regards
Griffo

Hello Griffo,

If you can remove the system password so that I can login to run the temperature testing software then that would be great.

You can delete your personal data, it is best to back this up and delete it anyway as you will be sending your laptop back to them and you don't want your data to be on there.

I will contact you on my return on the 9th.

Best wishes

Hi Paul,
Great news, all sorted with Staples thanks to your excellent report, help and advice, I could not have achieved this result without your guidance.
Staples were very quick to respond and made me a very reasonable offer which I was happy to accept. It's good to know that a large organisation such as Staples really does care about it's customers.
FIRST CLASS service from both Lapcure and Staples.
I can thoroughly recommend Lapcure to anyone.
Many thanks again Paul
Best Regards
Griffo

Hello Griffo,

Well done on your success :! :! :! :!

I have said it once and I will say it again, Staples really are one of the best companies to deal with; they take their responsibilities seriously and show the other retailers up to be the bunch of hopeless unprofessionals they really are.

Thank you for your kind words Griffo, much appreciated.

Well done again!

Good luck and best wishes for the future.
