How hot does your Nvidia chip get?

Download the temperature tool from here

Run the program, get the temperature and vote in the poll.

Just a quick thought but not sure which temp you want !? Is it idle temp ? or temp under stress ? and do you know if installing the BIOS update can effect the temp !? (as I understand this has some effect on fan speed). My temp went from 69 idle to 88 under stress and I have applied the BIOS upgrade.
Great Site and keep up the good work !!
Rgds,
David.

Hello David and welcome to our forum.

The higher temperature is the important one.

The BIOS update will affect the temperature insofar as reducing it. But what it also does is reduce the battery life.

Thanks for your kind comments.

Best wishes

Mines now sits at around 65 degrees, however that's it not in use, at idle. I remember it used to be quite able to hit 90+ during gaming despite my best efforts to help airflow.

my 8600 is at 96+oC when under stress and 70 when idling.

Sound like it could be a defective gpu anyone?

Hello Stu_J and welcome to our forum.

Well, at 70 when idling and 96 under load it is very likely that your GPU is defective - especially considering the 8600 is one of the more prolific of the defective GPU's.

Any questions please let me know.

Best wishes

Thanks a lot, i've already sent a letter to Dell's head office about 2 days ago though didn't state that they had 7 days reply.

I'll give it a week then if I still hear nothing then i'll send out another one using information you advised in the template.

Regards,

Stuart
