Out of the successes with Comet so far, did they all result in a voucher to use at Comet?
I only ask because we need the computer at home now, and it's obviously going to take a while to get a result out of Comet - leaving me needing to buy a replacement now.

I'm assuming under SoGA they can provide a replacement or a voucher, rather than having to pay cash?

Hello NDT,

The choise is yours when it comes to the refund.

You can take a voucher, cash, credit - it is really up to you.

Although I would say is cash is king so i would personally go for that but it is up to you.

Good luck whichever you choose.

Best wishes

Hello Hairy,

Thanks for the link.

Just emailed him and enquired as to whether he would be willing to offer his help and advice
to consumers caught up in this debacle.

Will let you know if and when he replies.

Best wishes

Yes, a few people have contacted them but to no avail.

I am hoping that once this site has enough members that we will be seen as more
credible and hopefully something can be done.

Until then though they don't seem too interested.

Best wishes

TBH I have been deeply involved in another case that has been reported to watchdog by hundreds of people

just google "redsave Scam"

We have never heard anything back, BUT I have found out this week the TV show "Inside out" is doing a piece on it. Maybe that kind of thing would be a better option?

It would be great if something like that was shown on national television - what a result that would be.

Can you imagine how many consumers there are at the moment with laptops containing a defective Nvidia chip and they are unaware of the fact that their recently failed laptop was doomed to premature failure due to the inherent defect?

How many of those customers throw away their failed laptop and buy another?

How many are there currently paying HP for a repair that they shouldn't have to pay for?

I would say it is in the tens of thousands and the problem is going to get worse because of the time it takes for this defect to raise its ugly head.

I think that once we have more successes under our belt and once this site has enough members then we will go to the national media and force them to sit up and take notice.

Only then will the people at large be empowered with the information they need to take action.

Best wishes

I told me friend about this issue and she had a faulty DV6000 that her husband chucked away last year and bo9ught a new one.

I was well on the way to doing the same thing myself and was pricing up new laptops....till I found this article last week.

I got straight on the case, I knew my laptop had a known fault, but I never knew I could take it back to Comet.
