Just a short entry to tell of my recent success with Staples. Laptop: HP dv9827 brought from local store on 29/10/2008. Cost: £550.00.
Black screen followed by split screen developed early Dec 2012. A quick google session (4 hours) led me here. Contact to Paul led to an engineers report and Staples 'made all the running' from there on. They have been very good and, as many other members are saying, appear to be the very best retailer to buy faulty laptops from. They have not quibbled nor shirked their responsibility in this matter - no arguing has been necessary on my part. They really know the meaning of Customer Service.
Just over a week ago I received an e-mail with two offers for me to choose between. Offer 1 - refund of the £65.00 report fee and a settlement amount of £350.00, as one cheque to go anywhere to replace laptop. Offer 2 - Refund of the £65 report fee and a voucher to spend in store to the value of original purchase price - £550.00.
I nearly fell of my chair - it's 4 years old!!! So, not only have they reacted very well accepting everything I had sent them without arguing or gain-saying, they have coached me through the whole process. I have had no need to push for anything. Then they made this offer - the very best I could have hoped for - I used the calculator and thought I would get about £125.00, or possibly £250 because it is Staples (many of the accounts here show they are willing to go a little further to keep customers happy) but they have basically provided me with a free laptop for 4 years. No prizes for guessing who I will be buying from.
Picked up my new HP Pavillion G-7 (17.3" wide screen, AMD dual core, 1 TB HDD, 6 Gb RAM, ATI Graphics,)for only £429, and also purchased Office 365, and I still have credit at the store!!
I am 'flabber-ghasted' Three cheers for STAPLES. And three cheers for PAUL at LAPCURE - without whom I would not have pursued this claim and just thrown away my 4 year old, broken laptop!
