Hi all

Bought a Compaq F500 from PC World (Silverlink, Newcastle) in March 2007, then bought another in Sept 2007.

The one bought in March has long since been destroyed, but the one bought in September 2007, was working fine until around August 2010.

It then got put in a box in the garage and forgotton about!

Whilst in the garage today, I though I'd pull it out of it's box and see if I could bring it back to life. Removed all dust etc from fans etc etc, and then searched the internet for similar symptoms to what this laptop is displaying. And guess what - a common problem!

Went to look for receipt, and could not find it (typical) - unless the wife has filed it somewhere in her office! :-/

Think I shall call by PC World next week sometime to see what they have to say....

If you cannot find your receipt then a debit or credit card statement will do. Anything to prove purchase.

PC World should also be able to supply you with a copy receipt so you really shouldn't have a problem.

Snap bought one of these in Oct 2007 it started with it getting really hot, wireless was intermittent
then after 16 months it packed up, just went into a loop start blank screen switch off repeat.

PC world had a record of the purchase even though I have the receipt.

There is a course you should follow find link for step by step guide on forum.

I am up to sending report to them giving them seven days and then I'll give them a call.
