Hi there all.

My Acer Aspire 9303 WMSi died last friday. I paid £699 almost exactly 4 years ago. After a few quick searches about the POST beep error codes I came across this fantastic site. Having read up here on the subject I went into the store on Sunday ready for the start of a long process. I asked the tech bloke if he knew of the Nvidia GPU failure problem. Result!! to my surprise he did! I asked if there was anything he could do in store and he told me that they would not be able to help then and there, but gave me customer service number and said they would take details and pass it to the "Out of Warranty" dept. I left them alone for the bank holiday, and armed with the reference number that customer services had given me, I rang them and spoke to one of them about my problem. They asked me if I could take it to the store so they could confirm it was a failed motherboard/GPU, so I jumped in my car and went down there. 5 minutes later in store they confirmed the fault and over the phone they offered me £230 towards a new machine (or BACS transfer) I haggled for a bit and got them up to £267
Not too bad a result really as I'd had 4 years use from it and was thinking of upgrading soon. The best part of it was that my first contact with the out of warranty department was at 3.15pm and by 5pm I had a brand spanking new machine, which was actually better than the original, and for less than £100 from my own pocket!

I wouldn't have even known I could even attempt to recover my losses were it not for the information contained here.

Thankyou all very much!!!!

Martin.
