Laptop Make: HP
Model: HP Pavillion DV6000 dv6620ea
Graphics Card: 7150M GS
Purchased From: High Street Store
Amount Paid: 900
Date Purchased: 14 Jan 2008
Date Failed: 04 Sep 2010
I purchased the laptop in Jan 2008 for over €900 and it started to go wrong in Dec 2009; I saw smoke from it one evening and then a small bang and flash and it went dead; I took it to PC World in Cork where I bought it and all they could do was offer me the fixed price repair for €299 as it was out of warranty. This repair was guaranteed for 3 months; Foolishly I agreed to this repair but in Sept 2010 while playing a DVD for my daughter the screen became frozen, I rebooted it and it worked for 5 minutes and then froze again and never started again; It now stops and restarts every 5 seconds with the lights coming on and the fans starts then suddenty stops and restarts again.

After reading this excellent site I went armed with this defect knowledge to PC World in Cork where I meet the Customer service guy (a nice helpful guy called Dean); he said he could do nothing for me at a store level but to contact PC Worlds customer service dept on 0044 844561 0000 -option 5-3-2 and to mention I wanted to make a claim under the sale of goods act. They said to send the engineers report to them at Customer Service, Customer Contact Center, PO 1687,Sheffield,S25YA.

So now I need the engineers report....how do I get this from here in Ireland?

Hello obrienbren and welcome to our forum.

Sorry to hear of all the problems you have had with your laptop.

We can help you with the engineers report no problem and have performed numerous reports for members living in both Southern and Northern Ireland.

The procedure for booking your laptop in for a report is the same and full instructions can be found here:- need-an-independant-engineers-report-t62.html

Once you have booked your laptop in I will contact you with further instructions plus a price on the carriage, though it will not be much more than our current charge.

There is also a step by step guide on this forum to receiving a refund or replacement laptop and that is here:- post13.html#p13

If you follow my advice in that guide then you will reach a positive resolution.

If you have any questions or if you need any advice then please let me know.

Good luck and best wishes

Paul
