Hello JP,
It is strange but the letter you have received is verbatum of another letter received yesterday by another forum member.
As I said to that member, the fact that they haven't put "WITHOUT PREJUDICE" at the head of the letter means that you can introduce it into court.
Though to be honest, I think their offer of £405 plus your costs is very fair.
By my calculations you would get the following:-
1) You paid £587.19 for the laptop 2) A laptop should last 5 years (60 months) 3) £587.19 / 60 = £9.79 (Monthly cost) 4) You had 15 months usage (60 - 15 = 45 months remaining usage) 5) £9.79 * 45 = £440.55
This would be the minimum amount that the court would award should it get that far.
You have to ask the questionm is it worth going to court for an extra £35 or so?
Maybe it is time to take the money and run, so to speak.
What do you think?
Best wishes
