:! :! :! SUCCESS!! :! :! :!

I've been offered £320 compensation from PC World (which includes £40 for the hard drive I lost last year). Although this doesn't make up for the fact that I've lost my laptop, at least it's a good start towards a new one!!

Many thanks for all the help from this website - I wouldn't have had a clue otherwise, and don't give up the fight all you others out there. I do think that PC World/Currys customer services have improved dramatically and were really helpful in sorting out my issue.

Cheers
Nik

Hello Paul,

I've had some success with PC world too! And I have to say like in Nik's post they have been no problem at all really.

The PC world engineers confirmed that the Nvidia chip was at fault and that the laptop was effectively a 'right-off'. They have offered me £260 for the laptop + £25 fee i paid to have it independantly checked. This will be paid straight into my bank which is very handy, much better than a voucher or credit.

Many thanks to you for this excellent forum which really has sorted me out.

Laptop shopping this weekend it is then! :!

Best regards,

Curry

Hi Paul,

I am just filling out the form now to book an engineers report with yourselves. Do I need to send any of the accessories with the laptop? (Power supply/battery etc)

Thanks,
Marc

Hello Marc,

There is no need to include the power supply or battery when sending your laptop.

The only thing I will say is that I go on holiday on Friday for one week returning to work on Tuesday the 16th August.

I can arrange collection for tomorrow (Wednesday) I would receive it on Thursday but probably wouldn't be able to start work on it until Tuesday the 16th.

Alternatively I could arrange collection for the 15th August which would arrive with me on the 16th.

Just let me know what you would like to do.

Best wishes

Paul

Ok thats great.

Would I be able to get it picked up tomorrow then please? I have got a lot on at the minute so would like to get it shipped away while its at the front of my to-do-list. I am using my mothers laptop at the minute so when ever you can do it would be great for me.

You deserve a good holiday for the all the great work you do on here for so many people!

Thanks,
Marc
