Well HOORAY! I am now the proud owner of a gorgeous Sony Vaio thanks to Comet.
I must say after all my doubts about them and losing faith in Comet they came through in the end.

My brief story is:

-2.5 year old DV6000, been in for repair 3 times, endless bluescreening/battery and wireless issues
- Went to store and spoke to manager, was offered £300 discount off a new laptop.
- Wrote to head office, not happy with just a £300 discount
- Head office first said they couldn't do more.
- Contacted Trading Standards, who said I needed recorded delivery slips for the letters I had sent, somethign I didn't have so I had to send the same letters again ( I added a covering letter to Comet explaining about Trading Standard wanting the proof)
- Comet rang and offered me a replacement laptop, plus any remaining balance on a Gift card. I went to the store today to collect it.

To be honest, I think the Trading Standards thing had more sway than anything else, suddenly they went from not being very helpful to being very helpful indeed and replacing my laptop.

Thanks to this site, and to everyone who posted advice :D

Well done Urchin, really pleased for you.

Hope your new laptop gives you a better service than your last one did.

All the best for the future.
