Laptop Make: HP
Model: TX1340ea

Guess what?

:! :! :! :! :! :! :! :!

I settled with HP and the cheque came through today - yipee! Ironically my date at the small claims court arrived in the post at the same time! Anyway, I've already bought a new laptop (Acer) with a 3-yr manufacturers warranty thrown in for the amount that I got from HP so I'm very happy.

Once again a huge THANK YOU for your advice and moral support - had I not discovered this forum, I would have been seriously out of pocket.

Its really sad that a major company choose to behave this way - I for one will never buy anything HP again and i can't imagine how many customers they've lost over this. I'll definately be passing the address of the forum to my friends whose laptops start playing up because of the defect. And to anyone unsure whether to take action against the retailer - GO FOR IT! You'll need a little patience but it's worth it. Don't be fobbed off if they claim your laptop is not on their 'list' or any of the other lame excuses they give you.

Keep up the good work!
