Hi Paul

They said after there report they would either offer me a repair of a partial refund

Well they needn't bother offering me a repair because I will not accept this.

A partial refund though, i assume they have some sort of life span calculation.

What can I expect to receive after paying £649.99

Hello Matt,

If you were to be offered a refund based on usage then you would expect to receive circa £325.

This is based on 30 months usage and 30 months remaining unused usage.

With regard to the repair of your laptop, considering that the mainboard in your laptop has had the BIOS tweak which switches the fans on 24/7 then I would say that the replacement, if it is the same part number, will also have the same tweak. With this in mind do you really want a repair that will deplete your battery much quicker than it should?

Any questions please let me know.

Best wishes

Paul

Hi Paul
just thought I would give you an update on my claim against Currys

I had a call on friday (27th aug) from currys,i missed the call but a gentleman called Andy left me message to call him back, I did so but he had finished for the day I thought just my luck as he was my case manager he was the only one I called talk to who was going to give me some real information about my case, however the woman told me to take it into pc world for them to diagnose, which initialy I wasn't happy about, so I waited untill monday to speak to andy

When I called on Monday and spoked to andy, I must say he was very very polite and understanding of my issues, I went on to explain my laptop symptons and he agreed it sounded like the Nvidia GPU and stated I was not alone, he then advised me to take it into pc world for them to diagnose. I then asked him what I could expect after I had done this, he said they was offering repairs at one point but these have proven to be no good and they have no guarentee at the moment of a repair ever working ( from the horses mouth ) he then went on to say they will offer me a partial refund of £315.00.

within less then an hour of speaking to Andy I was at pcworld, they confirmed the problem after to speaking to andy on the phone, I was then passed the phone and formally offered £315.00 which I accepted.

I was offered to ways of payment
1: bacs
2:instore voucher

I accepted the voucher

I asked him how long the voucher would take as I was keen to purchase my new laptop.

Basically he put a rush job on for me, the very next morning waiting in my e-mail box was my voucher GREAT..... new laptop purchased that day.

1st phone call to partial refund received = 11days.

My advice to anyone would be to make the call then send the letter straight away, let them know you mean business

I would just like to say that all in all currys dealt with my case exceptionaly well and must fear anyone who finds this forum lol

Once again a big big thank you goes out to you paul for your assistance and advise with my case, your a star

Thank you very much

Regards
Matt

Hello Matt,

Well done on your success :! :! :! :!

There seems to have been a wind of change blow over Currys recently as you are not the first person to have reached a positive resolution so swiftly and amicably.

Let's hope this applies to all future claims.
