Hi i would firstly like to say how good it is to find a forum dedicated to the defective Nvidia chips and to share my problems with others in the same position.

I bought my HP g6000 from Tesco in July 2008 and have had no problems with it until now, at the beginning of the month "Dec 2009" my laptop showed the classic signs of,
The Nvidia defect, Powering on, booting up but with a black screen, so tried using an external monitor with no luck.

So this brought me to the conclusion it must be the gpu, did a bit of googling and tha lead me here.

Any help to get a refund or repair from Tesco would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Aj

Hello AJ and welcome to our forums.

Sorry to hear of the problem with your laptop.

Here is what you need to do in order to get a refund from Tesco.

1) Go to the store where you purchased the laptop and tell them that your laptop has failed and after researching the problem and taking advice you have found that your laptop is inherently defective due to the defective Nvidia GPU.

They will probably tell you that you are out of warranty.

Tell them that there is no such thing when the goods are inherently defective and that you have SIX YEARS to take action against them.

They will then probably ask you to provide an independent engineers report.

When they do please let me know as we can help with that.

Once you have the report you should give them a copy and the refund should come shortly thereafter.

I have to say, Tesco's have been one of the better retailers in the way that they have dealt with this problem to date.

Persistance is the key to success in this matter so don't be put off or think that you would
be unable to win as we have not had a single customer that has failed in their quest.

If you need any help or advice then please let me know.

Please keep us updated as to your progress.

Good luck and best wishes

Paul
