Hello Bigmac,

To answer your question, yes, the 6150 is one of the defective chips.

Good luck when you go to Tesco's - if you need any help or advice then please let me know.

Best wishes

Hello Bigmac,

A receipt is not necessarily important.

You only need to be able to prove purchase.

Did you pay by credit or debit card?

Was there a witness with you when you purchased the laptop?

Do you remember the exact date of purchase.

If you can answer yes to any of the above then you can prove purchase.

Also, you can call Tesco's and request that they go through their records for the date of purchase to find your transaction.

Good luck with the above.

Best wishes

News from my HP G6000 failure. Sent in an "out of warrenty" form to Tesco and 5 days later recieved a letter from Tesco Customer Service. They are very sorry for the fact the laptop is not working and as a good will gesture (what a great get out clause that phrase is) they are sending me a cheque for £152. not offering, not asking if I will accept by sending back another form, not telling me if I return the laptop to them I will get it, but sending me the cheque without any more debate or requirements from me. I think they realise the laptop model stinks, which makes me think I should try for more money. Of course Tesco realise people need a computer and so with a bit of money they can get another and will not push further.

Hello fryball,

That seems a very low offer considering you purchased the laptop for £400 only 17 months previously.

As the laptop didn't even last you 2 years I would push for at the very least 50% of my money back.

A very low offer if you ask me but it is up to you whether you decide to accept it or not.

You will probably get to keep the laptop as well so you will make some money off that.

Good luck and best wishes

Paul

Ok then. I've finally got some money together, found myself a box, packaged up the laptop and booked a job with Paul for my report.

Hopefully I'll have a nice Christmas present for Comet

I've just been talking with Paul about my laptop and I can't make up my mind whether to feel disappointed or pleased.

Disappointed because Paul has confirmed that it's not suffering from the defect so I won't have the 'fun' of issuing a Small Claims action against Comet. :(

Pleased because Paul has quoted me a good price to get my laptop up & running again :D

STAFF FROM THE LARGE RETAILERS (we know you read this forum) TAKE NOTE:

Here is some proof that Paul does look at each of the laptops individually when writing these reports. Oh, and whilst you're here, spend some time looking at how Paul operates - he can teach you a lot about customer service!
