Hi All,

2nd time to post in this forum - I found it very helpful the last time. I have another dv6000 (dv6231eu)

After about 5 - 10 mins of use the screen gets completely distorted and freezes completely.

Sometimes the laptop actually shuts down.

I have a feeling the GPU is over heating?

Hello Evandoc,

Well, I checked the HP website for information on your laptop and found this:- http://tinyurl.com/37bjaf9

This is a BIOS update that HP released for your model of laptop and its purpose was to:-

Quote:
Updates the fan control algorithm of the system to reduce the likelihood of future system issues

This proves that as early as November 2007 HP must have been well aware of the potential for the premature failure of your laptop - otherwise why switch the fans on 24/7.

The problems you are experiencing are classic examples of the defect so I would say that it is a safe bet that your laptop is indeed inherently defective.

If you need any help or advice then please let me know.

Best wishes

Paul
