Hello all,

Found this today whilst searching for more ammunition against the retailers and HP.
http://www.nvidiadefect.com/HP.pdf

This is a copy of just one of the many class action lawsuits that are currently in progress in America.

In this document HP are accused of:-

Quote:
.....engaging in unfair, unlawful and fraudulent business practices.

I agree wholeheartedly.

From the BIOS updates that HP released to the wholly inadequate "list of affected units" that they continually refer to they have consistently and purposefully hindered customers who were unfortunate enough to have purchased one of their inherently defective units.

What makes me wonder is that the law changed in September of 2009 where it is now a criminal offence for a retailer to give false or misleading information to reduce or remove a customers Statutory Rights or their rights under the Sale Of Goods Act.

I wonder if it would be worth our while getting a list of names together of customers who have been lied to by either HP or one of the High Street retailers and then ascertaining how best we could pursue an action, be it criminal or civil, against the offending companies?

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Best wishes

Paul

Another Class Action, although unsurprising as to how much money this NVIDIA defect has escalated to date.

Any action that helps consumer rights would be a welcome goal.

One of the most astonishing aspects of this hole sorry saga is the fact that, no authority or press group has not picked up on this !

You would have my support

I've lost count the amount of times I have been lied to by Tesco and even Samsung when I rang them. I am surprised that the defect is not my widespread, I'd never heard of it before the computer shop recommended me this website. My friend had a HP laptop that had overheating issues and didnt last very long and with what I know now I am pretty sure had the nvidia defect, it's shocking to think how many people will of been conned.

You would have my support too,

Ashley

That is what amazes me as well.

I think that the only times the press have mentioned this problem is when there have been some court actions.

And it is for reasons like this that these companies have to be brought to task.

Hello Terry,

I had seen that before in a post on this forum and it does indeed only apply to owners living in the States.

What does amaze me is that Nvidia has only set aside $2,000,000 to fund claims for a huge raft of models of laptop.

I seriously do not think that this fund will be enough to meet all claims. If we assumed an average of $400 per unit that would only help 5,000 owners. I am sure there are many, many more that that involved.

I think Nvidia may have to dig a little deeper.

Best wishes
