Hi there
Thanks for all the previous posts regarding ebuyer and this particular laptop.
In order for me to get my action started against ebuyer I need a contact email address. Not their enote system. I suppose if I can resort to sending recorded letters. How have others done it?
thanks.
Mark

Hello Mark and welcome to our forum.

Some members have contacted Ebuyer through their "E-notes" system but some have said that Ebuyer were slow to react when approaching them in this way.

I would advise giving them a call in the first instance to see if you can get them to comply without having to resort to the letter before action.

If they do accept your claim over the phone then great, if not then you should send the letter via recorded delivery.

I hope the above helps.

Any questions please let me know.

Best wishes

Paul

Hi Paul

Thanks for your reply.
I had a hunt online and got the address complaints@ebuyer.com from moneysavingexpert. I sent an email and received an immediate acknowledgement promising to reply within 2 days. So fingers crossed. I'll keep the thread posted on developments.

Mark

Now had a superfast response from ebuyer complaints.
They have agreed to pick up the laptop to have it inspected.
They want £10 if they find that it does not have a fault.
I have stated that I reserve the right to have the laptop independently tested.

Took three hours and two emails to get them to agree to pick up the laptop back. I'm quite surprised!!

Ebuyer have arranged to pick the laptop up on Tuesday next week.
Their complaints department seem to be very much on the ball.
This part has been effortless.
I await their report on the cause of failure......

Hi Paul

The computer was picked up on Tuesday and I received an email today accepting that the laptop was faulty and offering me £239.17 because they cannot replace the laptop (out of stock). This has been added to my ebuyer account but they offered to credit me by other means if necessary.

Quite happy with this as I have had the laptop for 2 1/2 years and it originally cost £409. Seems a fair offer.

Off to buy my mother a laptop for Christmas from ebuyer using this as part payment.
Cant fault them. Superb customer service for me.
I have asked for the hard drive to be returned but to be on the safe side I'm changing all my passwords.

Thanks to all who have posted on the forum as I did not have any idea that I could claim money back on a laptop ready for the bin.

If anyone wants to email complaints@ebuyer.com then here is the content of my email, which seemed to get their attention.

Quote,

"This laptop has failed due to an inherent defect with the BGA grid underneath the ATI GPU.

Although out of warranty this is irrelevant as I have six years from the date of purchase in which to bring an action against a retailer when the goods in question are inherently defective.

As the laptop was bought from you, it is ebuyer's responsibility to resolve the situation.

I am therefore approaching you in order to obtain a full refund or new replacement laptop.

I look forward to hearing from you."

Best of luck to those that follow.

Hello Marchitects,

Well done on your success. :! :! :! :!

I am really pleased that you have managed to reach this positive resolution without the need to resort to litigation.

I thought that it is really nice that you are putting the money towards a laptop for you mum, I hope she loves it and that she gets years of faithful use out of it.

Well done again and all the very best for the future. :! :! :! :!

Best wishes
