Thanks for the advice paul.

I sent a letter out there on the 15/10/09 and pc world contacted me to tell me there was nothing they could do till they spoke to the engineer(you) about the laptop. They say they have just got voicemail box when they ring the number on the report. I asked them if i could get hold of you would you be able to ring them and speak to them about this? if u email me il send the details of the ref number and contact number they have gave me.
I did state to the guy on the phone stating that a repair would be pointless as the warrenty is only 3 months and after that if it fails its just a brick then.
Am i right to keep pushing for a refund or exchange?

Thanks Chris

Just to let everyone know. Pc World are pushing the repair option on me and refuse to do anything else. I have turned this down as the said they could not give me a guarantee that the parts that would be used are free of the defect. I do find that this is unreasonable especially considering the money being paid for the laptop in the first place. £800 laptop i think should last longer than 18months. I am now sending my request in a letter before moving further with local courts. thank you paul for your help. They will have 14 days to get back to me. I will continue to keep you all informed.

Thanks Chris

How can they expect anyone to accept a repair when they cannot give a categoric, cast-iron guarantee that the motherboard being used is free from the defect?

I say let's see what the courts decide on this one - they certainly cannot say that you have been unreasonable because no reasonable person would accept such a repair.

No guarantee = no repair.

Best wishes

Hello Saintyeti,

I am sorry but I just noticed this post and the fact that your laptop has failed after a repair.

I do apologise that you have not received a reply sooner.

Have you progressed this any further?

Please let me know and I will advise accordingly.

Best wishes
