Hello Shazzer and welcome to our forum.

Sorry to hear that your laptop has failed but fear not as you have found the right place to help you.

Tesco have a habit of trying to fob off customers caught up in this debacle.

Stand your ground, be persistent and sue them if necessary.

You have the law on your side and if your laptop is indeed inherently defective then you really cannot lose.

If you have any questions or if you need any advice then please let me know.

Good luck and best wishes

Paul

hi paul, thanks for your quick response, i have already printed out your step by step guide to a refund or replacement guide.
i have noticed for a long time the over heating as it use to leave a red mark on my leg where it use to get hot, i kept checking on hp website for recall but my battery number wasnt on it, but last night the pixels started to break up and lines going down the screen so i turned it off, when i went to turn it on, it kept struggling to turn on, then it would turn off and on all the time till i got it to turn off and stay off. we found a website that told u what to do but it didnt work, so glad i found your site.
many thanks wish me luck x

Hello Shazzer,

Well, the defect causes many different problems and it is highly likely that there is nothing wrong with the DVD itself, but rather the problem is with the controller.

I have seen on numerous occasions that when we perform the rework test the DVD will immediately become available and will work correctly after the test.

So I would say yes, it is quite possible that the failure of the DVD is linked to the Nvidia defect,

I hope the above helps.

Any questions then please let me know.

Best wishes

Hello Shazzer

Who are Tesco's tech guys? Remember, any inspection of your laptop should be independent otherwise it could be deemed to be biased.

Give them a call, see what they say then pop back here and let me know and I will advise further.

Don't let them fob you off. Remember, you have six years to take action so the warranty status is irrelevant.

The key to success is persistence. We are here to help you reach a positive resolution.

Good luck for tomorrow.

Best wishes

Paul

hi paul, its there electrical helpline :D, dont worry my laptop isnt going anywhere, it will be inspected independantly, tesco told me i needed to get in touch with hp but i pointed out that it was out of warranty so the sales of goods act comes into play, they didnt seem interested so we left it at that, we didnt expect them to do anything. will report back tomorrow on what their engineers say x
