Hi Paul,

Got the laptop back this morning, thanks.

Obviously reading the report and understand what you did to test it but is there any timeframe on how long the rework test will leave my laptop looking right?

If I try to minimise the time I use the laptop for and keep it cool could it last weeks?

Thanks

Tom

Hello Tom,

That is a difficult question to answer as the time is indeterminable.

It may last a few hours. It could even last a few days. But as sure as night follows day it will fail again.

It could last longer if you kept it cool, but I cannot promise that.

It is difficult to be more specific Tom as when you are dealing with this it is a bit of an unknown quantity.

Best wishes

Paul

Ok - no problem.

Wondering now if my complaint with Dell goes to court I should 'cook' the laptop so it does look like it's working ok!?!

:c

Hello Tommy,

I wouldn't do anything with your laptop as the court will not be interested in seeing it and will base their decision on the report and any corroborating evidence you may provide.

Besides, Dell won't let this get as far as court as their position is indefensible.

I wouldn't worry; having produced in excess of 700 of these reports I know that I have to prove conclusively that the fault with your laptop is due to the GPU. The test I perform is an industry standard test and the results speak to themselves.

Like your report states:-

Quote:
The fact that the laptop is currently working should not be taken as an indication that it has been repaired. Neither should it be assumed that because the laptop is working then the inherent defect has been removed. The laptop will continue to work for a few days after our test and then it will fail again.

Unless Dell can come up with some alternative reason for the premature failure of your laptop then the report speaks for itself.

It will all come good in the end.

Best wishes

Paul

Well it's pretty academic now - Laptop has over the last few days gone back to having the same fault symptoms as it had previously! :cr

Rework test lasted since Feb 14th ... 46 days.

Hello Tommy,

Well it is good news in a way that your laptop has failed again as it further enhances my claims in your report.

I am really surprised that Dell are letting it get this far. Shameful and grossly unprofessional behaviour if you ask me!

Like you said, it is all pretty academic now - you getting a refund that is!

Good luck and best wishes
