Hello Balders33 and welcome to our forum.

Sorry to hear of the problems you are experiencing with your laptop.

The problems you describe certainly sound like the defect, though your laptop contains an Nvidia 5100 which is not commonly being reported as faulty.

Quote:
I have no reciept of purchase and it has well run out of warranty.

The receipt is not important as you can provide proof of purchase by way of a bank or credit card statement depending on how you paid.

Did you pay by credit or debit card?

Who did you purchase from?

Did you purchase in the UK?

Please let me know and I will advise further.

Best wishes

Hello Balders,

Well, if it is a UK company that you purchased from then it does not matter that they sold on Ebay because they still have to sell goods that comply with the Sale Of Goods Act.

I would contact the company and tell them that your laptop has failed due to an inherently defective GPU and that you want a replacement or a refund.

They may tell you that you are out of warranty. You should tell them that the warranty status is irrelevant as you have six years to take action when the goods in question are inherently defective.

If you follow my advice in the step by step guide, which is here:- post13.html#p13 then you will reach a positive resolution.

Any questions please let me know.

Good luck and best wishes

Hello Balders,

Take absolutely no notice of what they have told you as it is a nonsense.

First of all, it is not a six year warranty. You have six years from the date of purchase to take action for inherently defective products. This is not the same as a six year warranty.

Quote:
Furthermore the fact that you have used it for several years before contacting us would clearly illustrate the item is not “inherently” faulty.

Yet more nonsense.

The fact that the defect can take in excess of 14 months to begin to manifest itself clearly illustrates that the defect was not patently obvious at the time of purchase.

Depending on whether you were a light or heavy user would also determine how long the defect would take to manifest itself.

It is now time to move onto the next stage in the guide.

You have received a typical fob-off and should totally disregard it.

Any questions please let me know.

Good luck and best wishes

Hello Balders,

Just to keep all informed, letter posted last week "before action" and waiting a reply...

Well, it could be that you don't receive a response until after Christmas so you may have a little longer to wait.

If we get more snow then that will only exacerbate matters and could push the date that you receive a reply to January.

Fingers crossed you don't have to wait too long. :x

Best wishes
