Hi Paul

Thanks for that; I've spoken to the owners & they're prepared to carry on the fight - in for a penny & all that - so I'll follow your instructions for arranging an inspection.

Thanks again for your continued help & support

Pete

Except I've just seen that the laptop is collected the next business day, & since it's still at the service centre that's probably not a good idea . . .

Hello Pete,

No problems, just book it in whenever you are in receipt of the laptop and we can then arrange a date for collection.

Any questions please let me know.

Best wishes

Paul

Hi Paul

Back again! Picked up the laptop from Comet today, & have logged a new job at Lapcure (RMA 10792) & will await further instructions. Is it OK just to send the unit? - I don't have the power supply here.

Interestingly, on the repair document, the fault is shown as 'overheats burnt out grafics (sic) card'. At least someone know what the problem is . . .

All the best

Pete

Hallo again

Many apologies - I've messed up the system by having my friend's laptop here, after I collected it from the store; I've emailed you the correct pickup address, & hope it's not too late to change it.

All the best

Pete

Hi Paul

Quick update - I emailed your report to Comet on Monday, & had a call from Carly today to say she'd just got confirmation of its receipt at HP, wher she'd forwarded it; she's now waiting to see what they have to say for themselves. Oooh, the tension . . .

All the best

Pete

Hi Paul

Update time, as the press somewhat worryingly report Comet being put up for sale . . .

Carly from head office phoned yesterday to say that she hadn't yet heard back from HP, despite chasing them, but that they were expecting a response by the end of the week. I asked if Comet's own response depended on what HP said, & she said yes, that was their policy. So presumably this means that if HP reject your findings (do your reports often go to the manufacturer as well as the retailer?), then Comet too will stick to their guns. I wonder if it will also affect their assurance that they'd cough up for the report. Time will tell!

All the best

Pete
