Blimey - are they aiming for Comets crown as worst retailer? :o

It's a shame that you can't show the letter in court - it would give the District Judge a clearer idea of what PC World are like.

I would however take copies of all of the correspondence to court with you so you can attempt to claim further expenses.

Basically, once the DJ say's that you've won you ask for your expenses for attending on the day (you could potentially claim expenses from today but that might be pushing it a bit). Your reason for asking is because you were going to accept the offer they had written to you about but they reneged on it - forcing you to go to further expense.

To look on the bright side - at least it's now going to cost them even more money in attending court to defend your claim.

Hello Lace,

Like Ciderboy quite rightly states, are they trying to steal Comets "worst retailer" crown?

How scandalous that they should make you an offer and then withdraw it!

I would waste not more of your time on them and would just press on with your small claims action.

I would also tell the judge how they have treated you and how they have made promises only to renege on them at a later date.

Good luck Lace.

Best wishes

Paul

Hi Guys,

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

At just after 3PM today I received a call from Mr Thomas Gallagher (he's representing PCWorld's legal department)

He was all apologetic and stated that he was sorry for any misinterpretation on yesterdays phone call. He then said I was indeed correct and that the offer was indeed £225 + £60 court fee = £285

I was incredibly angry at him. What kind of tactics are PC World deploying. Are they PURPOSELY trying to trick the customer to settle the claim for less money? I demanded that he send me his recorded conversation so I can use it as evidence in court.

Surprisingly, their legal department DO NOT record their conversations! I wonder why! :x

In the end, I just wanted to put an end to this whole fiasco. This did not stop me haggling though. I argued why he should work out depreciation of a laptop using a 5 Year lifespan.

In the end he refused to budge.

I am now awaiting my cheque for £285.00 from PC World to settle my claim.

I'm only pissed that PC World dragged it on so long for me to get to this stage.

Thank you Paul and ciderboy for all your help during this grueling process.

I am finally glad to say, that this war with PC World is OVER!

Kind Regards
lace

Well, it has been a long time coming but you got there in the end, kind of. :! :! :! :!

Like you correctly state, their tactics leave a lot to be desired and I wonder as to the underlying reasons.

I am not surprised, the calls would probably be too incriminating for them. :@

Well done though for not giving up when it got tough for you.

All the best for the future.

Best wishes
