Hello Deacon,

had a phone call from hp this morning telling me that pc world were liable for the laptop and
he said i dont know why they put you in touch with us....
Exactly! Why oh why do PC World continually refer their customers to HP or Sony or whichever manufacturer when it is entirely their own responsibility?
You should concentrate all your efforts on PC World and forget about HP. PC World is who your contract is with and they cannot wriggle out of it.

we extended our warrant up intill nov 2009 covering the gpu problem and that has now ended.
but they would repair or replace laptop for 280 pounds.
Absolutely scandalous.
Whilst your contract is with PC World and not HP I just felt I had to reply to that comment from HP.
First of all they cannot say that they extended the warranty and "that has now ended" as that is absolute baloney!
Where a product is inherently defective the customer can take action for up to six years from the date of purchase so whether HP like it or not, they simply cannot set their own end date on this problem.
What is worse is that they are trying to charge for repairs to these laptops that they must know are inherently defective.

GREAT more scammers.
Precisely!

spoken to bb provider t mobile about cancelling bb at 35 pounds per month as i have no laptop to use it with.
yes they said NO CHANCE.
This is ridiculous.
There is no way on this earth that you would have paid £35 per month for the internet had you not been induced by the laptop. The laptop was an integral part of the contract and no doubt the broadband was priced to reflect this.
There are many, many broadband providers that provide mobile internet cheaper than £35 per month so the price must reflect the fact that the deal included a laptop.
PC World's claim that they sold you the laptop for 10p is ridiculous. Does it state anywhere on any documentation that you have that this is the case?
The easiest way that I can see that this can be resolved without the need for court is for PC World to give you a replacement laptop and then that way you can continue with the broadband connection.
On the other hand part part of me thinks that this is an unfair contract and that you should fight it.
The whole contract should really be voided as the main part of the deal, which is the laptop, was doomed to fail prematurely therefore why should you still be legally obliged to pay?
One thing that I never asked is who do you actually pay the £35 to? and how much have you actually paid PC World?
Please let me know and I will advise further.
Best wishes
Paul
