My story so far Comet and the Nvidia defect...

Bought a HP dv6820ea in July 2008.

In July 2010 it basically died with the screen picture breaking up and having lines and artefacts which I believe is a Nvidia Defect .

So One of my friend suggest me this site and I have been reading this post and finally decided to ring comet. I rang comet and told about this fault. firstly, they said to me because of your extended warranty expired you have to to pay for your any repair. Then I Explain the guy on phone about this well known fault with Nvidia Graphic card which is manufacturing fault then guy told me we have to first inspect your laptop through our engineers to find out this is manufacturing fault or not and to do so you have to pay inspection fee.

so I cut the phone and straight away ring comet head office and try you put complain about this but the lady on phone with me said to me this is right under Sales of goods act we have right to charge consumer to find out the problem with product. she said to me we need a report from our recognize engineers. so finally she told me get the report first and then go in to store with you laptop and talk to staff about it and show them report they will do further process for you.

so now I don't know what to do next because they are really hopeless people. does anyone can prove legally that my Laptop got the problem with Nvidia defect and provide me official report which satisfy comet that it is manufacturing defect.

Please advice me what to do?

Hello Sanjay and welcome to our forum.

Sorry to hear of the problems you have been experiencing with your laptop but the good news is that you have come to the right place.

Don't worry about what Comet have told you, they have said this to numerous customers before and all those customers received either a refund or a replacement laptop.

When you purchase a laptop if it fails within the first six months then it is deemed to have been faulty at the time of sale. After six months there becomes what is known as the "reverse burden of proof". What this basically means is that it is up to you, the customer. to prove that your laptop is inherently defective. It is not up to Comet to prove this on your behalf as their opinion could be deemed as being biased.

So, in order to prove that your laptop is inherently defective you will need to provide an engineers report.

We can help you with a report as this is a service we provide.

There is also a step by step guide on this forum that will help you reach a positive resolution. That can be found here:- post13.html#p13

If you follow my advice in the step by step guide then you will reach a positive resolution.

Good luck and best wishes
