Well the guy from the escalations team phoned me today at 10am to say that they had received the email from the store to confirm my laptop suffered from the nvidia defect and that they would offer me £490 of vouchers, I said that I've looked and an equivalent spec machine costs £550 but we haggled and agreed on £520 which I'm happy with. The only thing I'm not really happy with is that they would only issue vouchers for use in a PCW/Currys store, so I've now got to find either a decent laptop that they have in stock or someone that is looking at spending £520+ in store and willing to swap the vouchers for cash lol.
But at least I've got mine sorted and so far they haven't even said if they want the old Asus G1Sn back or anything, so I may end up selling it for spare parts on ebay and putting the extra cash towards a more powerful machine!
Thanks again for all the help and advice Paul and I'll update again with what I eventually get as a replacement. Which hopefully will end up being a Dell XPS 15 (£530 base price for a very good spec machine!).

Edit:
I've just read another thread by AndrewT that is saying he has received an offer of £230 in a BACS payment, I think I might end up phoning the escalations team back and request that I get the amount back through a BACS payment as they currently have no equivalent machines that I want in stock.
I think I'll give them a call now and see what they can do as I really don't like any of their current range and have decided I really want the Dell XPS 15 (I'll not tell them directly that I won't go going back to them, just that I want it as cash!).
I'll report back with what I get offered, again!

Hello M_Taylor,

Well done on your success :! :! :! :!

They do tend to offer vouchers in the first instance, I guess it is so that they can ultimately keep on to your money. There have been a number of customers who stated that vouchers were no good and they received a monetary refund.

You will be able to get a nice PC with that refund which is brilliant.

Well done again and I hope that you get the cash instead of the vouchers. If not then it is still a brilliant result.

Well I phoned them up, the guy that has been dealing with my claim was on a call so his colleague took my name and phone number so he could ring me back, about 10mins later he called and I told him that the laptop I had been looking at is no longer on the website and the others are all out of stock in my local store (They only have like 20 laptops in and most of those are the same models in different colours!) so requested if I could have the money back in a BACS payment and he has passed it onto his manager and the finance team who will be contacting me to arrange the payment!
I've actually had my beliefs for the company fully restored as they have done everything I have asked! So I'm now just waiting for a call from the finance team so I can get my £520 back, then I think I'll be placing an order with Dell lol. To be honest after the service I have had I would have got the laptop from PCW/Currys if they just had the model in that I wanted.
Once I have received the money back into my account I'll be sending another letter into the Head Office as a thank you for resolving the issue and giving my thanks to the staff that have helped, I know it's there job to do it and they have to sort it by law but I've done the work myself and know how much better you feel when you actually get thanked and some recognition for your hard work, and at the end of the day its only the cost of a stamp lol.
Thanks again Paul and keep up the excellent work, I'm sure that without you there would be hundreds of us in the country with nothing more than expensive paperweights!

Hello M_Taylor40,

It just gets better for you doesn't it :! :! :! :!

Well done again, I am really pleased for you.

Your only problem now is what to spend all the cash on! :D

There are some great bargains to be had so you would be wise to shop around. I would recommend trying an independent shop rather than a conglomerate as you will get a much better deal pound for pound.

Best wishes
