Hi all,

I hope you can provide some guidance, I live in Australia, I know this forum is UK specific but I cannot seem to find many local references.

As many of you my Asus G1S with an NVidia 8600 GT m stopped working with a blank screen after 2 years and 5 months of use.

I bought this lap top in Mexico, I don't see any point to try to return it back to the seller there. I'd like to apply for repair (though I know there is extensive information for not doing this) or a replacement through Asus Global Service although I see that works only in theory.

To cut long story short after one e-mail and one call to Asus Australia they insist there is not recall for such thing and as I am out of warranty period I need to pay for the repair. I cannot get pass the support guys.

As far as I googled basically all major OEM provided some sort of extended warranty for this defect but Asus who has ignored it since the beggining.

I feel so frustrated because of this but that won't help, I'll keep looking for any reference for local consumer bodys who had had cases like that but I would appreciate if you know of any pointers on that.

Thanks in advance,
Javier.
